When I was first asked to create a print for the Generation Geek gallery show in Bourges, France for Geek-Art, I was surprisingly stumped. Not because I couldn't think of what to do, but because there were too many options. The theme was Geek History from the past to the present, a pretty open topic, so... where to start?! My initial thought was to involve Godzilla. Then I decided to draw just a few more of my favorite characters from science fiction and fantasy from the last century; from books, comic books, cartoons, movies, video games etc. - the ones that inspired and wowed me from childhood to today.
You know, just a few.
Then it got personal. What happened next was this, a print depicting my own geek history, my ODE to GEEK.
Full character list coming soon!
NOTE
There are 9 characters of my own creation filtered throughout the piece. If you can find 'em all, by process of elimination I suppose, email me, describe them, tell me where they are & you shall get a prize! A 4" waterproof sticker of any character in the piece and some cards from my shop or something like that, we'll work it out a nice little care package. Limited time only.
NOTE #2 Time forced me to leave out a ton of other glorious characters, places and things that I hold near and dear to my heart. Chtlulu, He-Man, Alien, the TARDIS, Falcor, Predator, Snake Eyes, Purple Worms, Sandworms etc... I did this in about 3 weeks time, on and off, when I could in between assignments. Would have love to kept adding to it but just had to call it at a certain point. Would be cool to do a Part 2 in the future.
