The first problem is that the old logo does not reflect the organization's purpose: it looks historical-cultural maybe, and complicated contains different variants: the number of the hand, the rotation and the sizes, and the different negative spaces, and it needs a little bit of magic. So, my main goal was to fix these issues while keeping the identification of the old logo.
The rotation is subtle, but it helps a lot with the legibility of the initials G D F
I tried to render it as simple as possible to make it recognizable on a global scale. I noted that it needed an element of uniqueness (magic) to make it the GDF logo and not just another hand. An idea that would associate all the values with a specific Foundation is why I introduced the initials GDF to the new logo.
Again for legibility, I turned the last two fingers from Fill to Stroke to make it different
from the F.
