A UX journey for coffee

Overview

Cup of Know is all about coffee. From bean to brew and everything in between, this app will equip coffee the occasional coffee drinker all the way to the connoisseur with information related to this mighty beverage. It will provide a “one stop shop” for those exploring the coffee world with videos, how-to’s, news, FAQ’s, cafe directories, buyers guides, and forums. 

Why?

Consumers spend into the tens of billions of dollars per year on this beverage that is more popular than tap water. The love for coffee is real, and with all of that consumption comes questions, a lot of them. Furthermore, in 2015 consumers spent $6 billion USD on ancillary products related to brewing, with that number growing annually. 

This app will be the ultimate tool for coffee consumers. With so much information available, it can quickly become overwhelming. This tool will be simple, streamlined and easy to use. 

Users...

Eight users. 
Four women and four men, with varying degrees of coffee involvement. 
Male subjects: ages 23-75
Female subjects: 21-72

Every one of these users had varying consumption levels, but shared many similarities. Through these similarities the following personas were created…


User Driving Points

From the sample of users studied we found commonalities that became the drivers for the most important parts of the app. These topics include four main points: 
-Brew Method
-Kinds of Coffee
-Guides
-Coffee 
-Equipment
-Social Tools

These points acted as a driver for how the app would be arranged based on most relevant information being in the forefront for the user.
