Venezia on the Verge
Measuring limits between map and reality
The Major Project of my MA is an enquiry about the printed map as a medium to depict reality. Is a map an accurate representation of reality? Where lies the limit between the accuracy of representation of the territory, and the functionality of a map? The final resolution of this research project are two non-functional maps of Venice; the one tending towards reality, and the other one towards unreality. Venice becomes in this project a symbolic place to illustrate these investigations: it is the city of limits between land and sea, and has an important past in the history of cartography.
