Reconstruction of the armchair El Lissitzky D-16

Reconstruction of the armchair D-16 (1928-1930) for the exhibition "Thing! A Substantial Talk" (2021)
The D-16 armchair was designed by El Lissitzky for a communal house cell, presented for the first time at the Hygiene exhibition in Dresden, in 1930. This armchair became the forerunner of the current trends in shaping the furniture design in the 1930s and 60s.
Interestingly, the German company Tecta continues to produce a slightly revised version of this model, painting the wood in bright colors or even using transparent plastic.
This reconstruction was made from photographs of the original chair.
