Throughout the imminent end of the second covid-dominated Winter in Germany, the necessity for an outdoor adventure, some hours in the sun or at least some moments off, was continuously growing. When Felix came up with the idea and opportunity, things developed pretty fast and became the first trip of its kind for all of us. Just that idea of hiking nonstop for a few days somewhere dusted off the memories of former dreams - my most important source of motivation. Actually, I wasnt even conscious about how much the pandemic was covering that ability, but the planning and preparation for our hike and the chance to leave the mundane of my life regained all my motivation and energy until I experienced my personal two-weeks-long movie montage moment to the sound of Charlie Lownoise and Dune - until I got ready to fly!

Our hike officially started at a supermarket in Nerja close to sea level in the province Malaga. From there, we headed into the mountains for a south - north crossing of the Sierra Almijara & Tejeda, including the 2066m summit of La Maroma, the highest mountain of the national park. We followed and left several trails like the GR-249, improvised our tour and spontaneously found beautiful wild spots to camp and cozy B&Bs to rest. In the end, one just shimmy from one source of water to the next. Pack and unpack. Up and down, wet and dry, cold and warm. That’s how the days go by from foggy hell rides along the ridge of the mountains to the peacefully sunny valleys in between orange tree Plantages. It’s the exciting variety and the beautiful balance of conditions that makes time so precious.
