My short confession,
I began to draw this book before the war started.
I think everyone knows what happening in my Ukraine now. War is a shocking disaster, it is a catastrophe, it is a nightmare from which we will never wake up. I had an existential crisis after the war started, as a person and as the artist I saw no reason to draw nice pictures wachin the death of children, facing immeasurable sorrows grief and destruction of all that I called “normal life”. But we all have to be strong and courageous after all, to stand against the face of hard and cruel challenges. And I must continue life as it was before the war, draw and illustrate, do what I have to do, and create beautiful books for our kids.
It is a story with a happy ending about fighting cancer.
This book is my hope for the victory of light over darkness, the victory of life over death and disease, the victory of my Ukraine 💛💙
