Guia Anônima — Junia Zaidan

Guia Anônima [ Icognito Window / Anonymous Guide ] is the first fiction book of Junia Zaidan, published by a co-production between FiNA Produtora and Editora Cousa. The publication presents 16 tales that dive into the essence of feminine, from a transgressive perspective by her characters.

The visual identity was designed in a way to translate the atmosphere of the stories, sometimes marked by anguish, violence and suffering. The eponymous tale, which also opens the book, is a long string of linked words that unfolds without any pause to breath. The sense of urgency and the excess of noise inspired a graphic language that is based on word clippings, making an analogy to punk posters and Chris Ashworth's↗ swissgrit aesthetic. The illustrations was made by artist Luciano Feijão↗.

For this project, I developed a tool with the objective of generating variations of images from these initial guidelines, being used both for the text on the back cover and for the title on the title page of the book. You can find more information about the algorithm in this Github repository↗.

Guia Anônima é o primeiro livro de ficção da escritora Junia Zaidan, publicado por uma co-produção entre a FiNA Produtora e a Editora Cousa. A publicação reune um conjunto de 16 contos que possuem um mesmo fio condutor: a identidade feminina, explorada e apresentada através de personagens anônimas.

A linguagem visual do projeto se desenvolveu a partir do conto homônimo e que também abre a publicação: uma longa sequência de palavras encadeadas, sem que haja qualquer pontuação entre elas. A sensação claustrofóbica do conto antecipa uma atmosfera por onde desenrolam histórias que envolvem dor, angústia, sexualidade e morte. O texto inspirou uma linguagem gráfica que se baseia na desconstrução tipográfica, fazendo analogia às estéticas punks e especialmente o estilo swissgrit de Chris Ashworth↗. As ilustrações são do artista Luciano Feijão↗.

Para este projeto, desenvolvi uma ferramenta com o objetivo de gerar variações de imagens à partir dessas diretrizes iniciais, sendo utilizada tanto para o texto da quarta capa como para o título na folha de rosto do livro.
