Pronkstillevens are usually interpreted as a form of vanitas painting that conveys a moral lesson. The various objects in the compositions serve as symbols that can be read as an admonition or a life lesson. The objects usually refer to the transience and emptiness of wealth and possessions and the ultimate extinction and emptiness of earthly life.

Most of the time we spend working we are not aware of the transience of life, of what is earthly, material and what is important and we must take it with us once we are not among our loved ones.

For various personal reasons I am discovering little by little that you have to keep your feet on the ground and dedicate part of your time to yours and to the most human values, more up to date in the difficult times that are hitting us.

Pronkstilleven is my personal reflection, trying to recreate still life painting in the best possible way in the golden age of Flemish painters. It has been quite a challenge to recreate in 3D the sensation of seeing a painting, the caustics, the crystals, and everything with a single natural light, quite a challenge that, I imagine, these painters faced with their means, today I show the same challenge but with mine.
