MAMA KEA Brand Identity
Background
Mama Kea is a Soweto breed artist who handcrafts knitted shoes, hats and clothing items from her humble home. Like all other business women, she sets up a stall on Vilakazi street to sells her proudly South African items to tourist and locals alike.
Her brand has since evolved with the passing of time cementing her as Mama Kea.
Concept
What stands out about Mama Kea is that the majority of her goods are hand knitted. It was only natural for the design to borrow elements from her work and infuse them into the logo design. In this case, her yarn.
The yarn inspired the base of the idea which features in the layout of the name Mama Kea.
