'Balustrade' is a san-serif typeface that draws inspiration from the patterns of the Victorian-styled Balustrades, which are welded iron decorative designs that are typically installed on balconies or near the entrances of townhouses.

What grabbed my attention was the free-flowing nature of the wire, twisting and sprouting across the frame. Through ‘Balustrade’, I put into action how I saw the potential in exploring the possibilities of creating letterforms with an over-emphasis of strong curves and curls. I believe that these features of a Victorian Balustrade adds sophistication and elegance to its overall design. Applying these features to the typeface has made it unique because each letterform is poise and elegant, but at the same time, it has a comical and playful effect.
