American Red Cross Training Course
For this project I was provided with Red Cross training content to use as the basis for an online training course to be built within a Learning Management System. The EdApp LMS was selected for its flexibility and engagement. Ed App provides template options for question types, gamified assessments, social learning, and more. The audience for this training are adults in office environments who may be in the position to assist a co-worker, in a life-threatening situation, through training. EdApp’s flexibility allows for training to be conducted on desktop, tablet, or mobile.
The process started with reviewing the content and chunking like concepts together for training. After content for the first module was decided upon, it was broken down further into detailed sections. This resulted in 3 lessons to teach the content in the first module. This content was organized into the hierarchical flow chart show below. This allowed for a holistic view of what was to be taught with each of the three lessons.
The content from the hierarchical flow chart was then populated into the Content Map shown below. This is a road map for building the lessons. All instructional materials needed to create the training are listed, along with each type of assignment and assessment to be given.
The Content Map was then used to build the course within the EdApp LMS platform. edApp proved to be easy to use with endless possibilities for engagement. The video below is a presentation of the American Red Cross training, lessons 1-3.
