The Peeping Parrot / Adobe Creative Residency Fund 2021

This project was created during Adobe Creative Residency program, commissioned by Adobe and working with the Indesign team. The main purpose was to show creativity and highlight Adobe Indesign features.
Creative Residency Fund
Concept/Theme:

The relation between a letter’s appearance, its meaning and what it sounds like can be hard to grasp for a child learning to read and write. I wanted to develop a visual universe where letters and their associated sounds gives meaning by connecting letterforms with
characters.

For my Creative Residency Fund project I proposed to develop a publication with playful type usage and minimalist illustrations along the ones I had previously been developing for my ‘The Nosey Issue’ and my ‘Oblong Cookbook’ (seen on the previous and next
pages). I will be utilising several Adobe software but primarily InDesign.

This is a children’s publication with texts connecting stories to the construction of letters helping children understand shapes and easily remember them. The typography that will be developed and illustrated needs to be legible, basic and determined to help distinct letters from each other.

‘This book is childish – some will say pure nonsense.
It is literally about letters. How letters build sentences.
Sentences can swing with rythm and rhymes, And a few
words can create strange pictures inside your head.
If you seek any deeper meaning in these 26 childish
poems, You will probably have to find it yourself, reading
between the lines.’
