Significant Nonsense: February

FEBRUARY

By February, I really started to define this project. I began to build on to the previous day’s design or revisit things from earlier in the week. A few of my favorites from the year were actually created this month including the weather icons and app. Around this time I became very interested in user experience and responsive web design. I had gone on several inspirational studio tours with the AIGA Chicago Mentor Program and I started to apply what I was seeing and learning to my own designs.
February 1: Topographical chalk doodle.
February 2: Got myself stuck in a sticky situation today.
February 3: Searching for a new way to draw my K's.
February 4: Icons in the works: daily design or significant nonsense?
February 5: …or we could keep things simply typographic.
February 6: Mood board for the Significant Nonsense logo.
February 7: Some days you really have to force it
February 8: Playing around with my new font Metropolis and googling typographic terms.

February 9: Too seven components in the works (mood board).
February 10: Coffee bag label.
February 11: Saw these moving dots in a dream.
February 12: Saw a Q drawn this way and wanted to join in the fun.
February 13: Untitled randomness.
February 14: Blind deboss.
February 15: Recreated the sign at the quincy brown line stop.
February 16: Patterns
February 17: One long scribble.
February 18: Postage stamp.
February 19: Website layout sketch.
February 20: I am thinking about creating a new portfolio website, so I have been looking at what my peers are doing and getting a feel for different layouts.
February 21: About Significant Nonsense.
February 22: Went to CreativeMornings/Chicago with Plural Design where they talked about getting weird and a new project using only glyphs.
February 23: Flip clock plugin idea/sketch.
February 24: Weather icons.
February 25: I am frustrated with The Weather Channel app because it is too cluttered with ads and unnecessary graphics which lengthen load time and distract the user from the main goal, so I came up with this concept for a simple and clean design.
February 26: Met my AIGA Chicago Mentor Group at the Harold Washington Library and perused the topographical maps while I waited for the group to arrive.
February 27: Thinking about a sort of timeline/sliding website design.
February 28: An idea for a web graphic, image slideshow (cut this one real close, 11:52 PM).
