The theme of this piece of mixed media work was nature, and more specifically feathers. Feathers symbolises freedom and life which made them an amazing centre piece for my work. I looked carefully at how i could accentuate this symbolism of freedom by using colour and different media. I drew out my main picture in black and white using charcoal and chalk for a steady, calm three-dimensional approach as-well as doing the same image on a separate piece of card but in coloured paint.
I burnt holes through the black and white drawing which i placed on top of the colour painting, these were also slightly separated with cardboard wedges to give them some depth and shadow.
Using a hot glue gun I traced over the large feather in the centre to create a smooth texture but also to blend it slightly from the colour into the black and white.
