Book Covers: Neural Connections

Opportunity: For this project I designed covers for a series of four books from the Penguin Classics series. The selection of books took place after extensive research on all Penguin Classics titles. The design of the covers must be united conceptually and appeal to a specified target demographic.

Solution: During my research, I discovered that a special phase of brain development occours during early adulthood in which the brain prepares for the demands of adult life. I decided to create a book series that exposes people in this age group to many different ways of seeing the world. My goal was to help them create and maintain new neural pathways in order to encourage an open mind. The books I selected were Between Past and Future by Hannah Arendt, The Essays by Francis Bacon, Sickness Unto Death by Søren Kierkegaard, and Beyond Good and Evil by Friedrich Nietzche. Each book contains a different persepective of how the world operates and where our place is in all of this. The series is called Neural Connections.
