Tradicional Trends - Retratos de uma Família
Each family has something very special and personal, but in this made up family, we take the intimacy of Portuguese families to a more global level.
“Traditional Trends – Portraits of a Family” is a project that recreates the story of a family, creating a temporal arc between the past and the present. Through this staged family, this project questions the boundaries between the individual memory and the collective memory of a society, mixing several layers of different times in each image.
“Modern traditions” are one of the targets of this project, through the old customs and habits that perpetuate until today, mixing traditions that are in the past with inventions and ways of being in the present.
A família de cada um é algo muito pessoal, mas nesta família inventada, levamos a intimidade das famílias portuguesas para um nível mais global.
“Tradicional Trends – Retratos de uma Família” é um projeto que recria a história de uma família, criando um arco temporal entre o passado e o presente. Através da família encenada, este projeto questiona as fronteiras entre a memória individual e a memória coletiva de uma sociedade, misturando várias camadas de épocas diferentes em cada imagem.
As “tradições modernas” são um dos alvos do nosso projeto, através dos costumes e hábitos antigos que perpetuam até hoje, e daqueles que ficaram no passado ou são invenções e modos de estar no presente.
This project uses mix media techniques, like collage, drawing and painting on the images. By recreating some of the archives pictures at the studio, I'm bringing back little pieces of the people on the original archive images, and their existence through time.
Este projeto usa técnicas de mix media, como a colagem, o desenho e a pintura nas próprias imagens. Ao recriar algumas das imagens de arquivo em estúdio, trago de volta pequenas partes das pessoas que habitam nas imagens originais, e a sua existência através do tempo.
