Intervention Strategies Leveraging Learning Record Store Using Experience API in an Affective Learning Role-Playing Game

Abstract

This paper discusses Learning Activity, Learning Analytics, and Learning Intervention through a Game. The game Hygieia is a computer role-playing game that helps players learn the value of Waste Segregation and Management. Since valuing a certain concept is concerned with the affective domain, affective learning must be carried out. Previous researches have shown that a Role-Playing game is an effective means of carrying out affective learning. Learning Analytics is supported through a Learning Record Store (LRS) technology. The game is implemented using the Experience API (formerly Tin Can API), a technology specification for learning activities and data that enables learning applications to collect data from different learning experiences, both online and offline. A Learning Record Store (LRS) is also used to provide learning analytics and learning intervention. This study aims to prove that affective learning development can be tracked by the Experience API and Learning Record Store technologies and influence learning intervention.
