< Jackson Wang > is the self-titled single unveiled by
singer-rapper Jackson Wang via TEAM WANG in January 2022. The song unfolds his personal growth in a simple but creative way.
We developed Jackson's story by the details in every scene but didn't utilise any scene breaks and transitions. We tried to visualise the song and keep the subtle feeling of it. So we decided to keep the format simple, and adding all the hints into the background.
We would love to invite the audience to discover Jackson's footprints by the details in this video. A series of creation including sign boards, buildings, characters of his relatives in different scenes showcasing upsides and downs of his journey.
Characters
The first challenge we met was character design.
Before proceeding animation we proposed a few illustrations in different styles. At the end we secured this western-influenced modern Japanese creative plan.

Animation Process
Video Snapshots
We referred to the photos of Jackson Wang and his families or friends to proceed the scene creatives. We want the viewers would be able to feel the authentic atmosphere when they listening.
We avoided the typical landmarks of the cities that Jackson lived or worked in during the past few years, but showcases the locations by details of each scene including light boxes, signages and specific places.
