Svaccha Packaging and Illustration

I decided to take my editorial illustration and use it in a way that was related towards graphic design. By turning this illustration into a packaging design I thought it worked well with something that would be organic in nature. The colorful patterns in the shape of India would have to relate to something the product was about or where it came from. 'Svaccha' means "clean" in Hindi and I thought it was appropriate for an organic soap product.

Article Description:
The article, “Hints of Lost Continent Found Beneath Indian Ocean” by Tim Wogan, focused on the evidence that researchers found on the seafloor of the Indian Ocean. They discovered pieces of continental crust scattered about the seafloor. Through further research and reconstruction of the plate tectonics they have found these pieces of continental crust were once attached to India some 90 million years ago.
The illustration reflects the idea that the seafloor is made of different pieces like a puzzle. The shape of India is scattered it about in various sizes and painted different patterns inspired by fabrics from India into. The rest of the seafloor shows textures that represent coral, seaweed, and other underwater organisms.
