Ghostwood - A Field Guide Work in Progress
I've always enjoyed fantasy illustration. This Ghostwood Field Guide seeks to compile a few years of these quirky characters and speedy writing sprints into a loose story. Told in one of my favorite ways, a-la The Gnomes and Dinotopia.
Here's a look into my process and progress.
Of course my inner designer insisted on a custom typeface. I really dig the "wood" texture but as a laid it out, it was too busy and would not read well.
Some process and tutorials related to some of my characters. This process required watercolor "grayscaling" which I've since omitted as it didn't seem to do much, either than make me frustrated.
