Golden Gate Park 2019 Event Poster
This is a 20” x 30” event poster for Golden Gate Park that uses a complex but easily understood organization system for the poster layout with the help of a 24 x 32 grid. After editing and pulling out similar elements from the text such as the date, time, location, event name, price, and description, a hierarchy is decided for the text. First, the events are grouped by themes and placed in columns to reflect the shape of the Golden Gate Bridge because the events take place in Golden Gate Park. Next, the events are organized in the order of the event date. Other following elements include the event name, location, time, price, and then description. Garamond is used for the time, price, and description for its organic structure to match the outdoors and its legibility at an especially small type size because it is a serif typeface. Nobel is paired with Garamond because it has a similar x-height and similar letterforms but there is still enough contrast between the two since it is a sans serif. Nobel is used for the headers and larger text because it allows for legibility.

A fall color palette including the orange color that is used for the Golden Gate Bridge is applied to the poster because the events occur in October, a month in the fall season. Furthermore, the graphic elements such as the abstract angular lines represent the Golden Gate Bridge structure while the triangular shape on the bottom left of the poster represents the hills seen in nature. In addition, the red vertical lines next to the times specifically represent the duration of each event.
