The Trash_Can : A Waste Recycling and Recovery Facility
The aim of this presentation is to give one a brief idea about the processes and design interventions taken in order to achieve this facility. Learn more about the building and its functions through the eyes of the user on site through various information pods that are present in the facility. The complex nature of factories is simplified so that it is appealing to the public and works against the taboo against waste.
As cities are rapidly expanding and their populations are increasing, the topic of waste is becoming urgent in terms of defining new and innovative methods of dealing with the waste generation, particularly through improving citizens education and habits.  The main problem is the sheer volume of waste that is being produced and the question is how to deal with that?
Spread across 32 acres on the Faridabad-Gurugram road, the Bandhwari landfill receives almost 2,000 tons of solid waste every day, from Gurugram and Faridabad. For the last few years, the inhabitants of the villages around Bandhwari waste treatment plant are demanding this landfill to be removed, as it is polluting the air and contaminating the groundwater. It is one of the biggest landfills in north India is situated in an ecologically sensitive Aravalli forest region.
The building apart from being an architectural model has the capacity to catalyze a discourse. It would be a model for future industrial buildings.
Spaces that are dictated by machines and the movement of waste rather than the users.
