Fragrance Highlight Campaign

Another task by my employer to create a highlight post for Lush perfumes. This was designed more to simply create awareness of the products to the consumer in a simple and easy to digest way.

During the process, I did encounter a few challenges.

1. Feature selection

The brand had a ton of perfumes. And when I say a ton, I mean a TON. During the time for creating the highlight, there was roughly over 50 perfumes to choose from with a variety of different scents. Each one was different and we had to narrow it down to a single image that was easy to understand and gave a simple idea of how the perfumes smelled like.
Thus, we ended up going in by describing based on how the overall scent impression was like. Based on sales research and what marketing had came back with, they decided on wanting to at least feature their all their bestsellers.

Some talks happened back at forth to narrow it down to 9. However, with further discussion, it was found that perhaps going with only bestsellers wasn't a good option and we eventually narrowed it down to a mix of bestsellers and some wild choices that had potential should people give it a chance (aka more awareness of its existence).

2. Consistency

So once we decide the direction of how to highlight the perfumes, it was time to get the graphics together. I mainly relied on a mix of what they could provide for me in their media assets library and some copyright free images I got from Canva.

There was a slight problem. The photos they used in their media assets wasn't exactly the nicest to look at nor were they the most consistent with each other.
While a number of them looked great like this: bright, colourful and eye-catching and crisp. Older perfumes tend to look a little worse for wear.
The result: Had to do some colour correction and adjust the saturation so they all matched.

The end result is something rather simple but does follow the brand's minimal aesthetic. In the end instead of going with generic descriptions, we went in with what kind of mood using the perfume will let you feel.
