enRoute

EnRoute is a ride sharing app that is based around long destinations with new people and potential friends. The concept behind enRoute is based around a modern day road trip where technology can help connect people escape city life.
Challenge

In 2017, I was asked to participate in at Adobe’s Creative Jam event in Washington D.C. where I partnered up with a fellow design friend, Ricky Phuong, to work with me in participating in the event. Our challenge was presented the day of the event to think. At the event, Adobe reveled the topic in which we had to  create a mobile application based on the concept “better together”.
Process

Considering our concept had to be completed within four hours, Ricky and I thought of concepts in which people were together. We came ran through a series of different scenarios that brought people together. Our best concept was based around road trips, and how memorable long car rides can be with good company. We based the framework around popular ride share apps—Uber and Lyft. We noted that while these ride share apps focused on local destinations; our app should focus more on further destinations and long times spent in the car. As soon as we structured our product goals, we began wire framing the user flow, building a brand for the app, and creating the user interface.
Solution

From our brief ideation session, Ricky and I created enRoute for our long ride sharing application. With enRoute, we wanted to take the user down a journey where users wanted to go to a destination a few miles out of downtown Washington D.C. Once the user logs in, a dashboard shows cars that are in your area. The user can select a car that has a destination preset for the day, or the user can coordinate a trip to a driver for a later time. For security, we incorporated a chat functionality to help driver and rider coordinate pick up times, learn more about one another, and figure out logistics with the trip. We also incorporated a Spotify API into the experience to add a fun and collaborative way for driver and rider to get to know one another while on the trip.
Outcome

After designing, Ricky and I presented our solution to a crowd of peers, where they reviewed our work and voted on all the contestant’s ideas. After voting, Ricky and I tied for 3rd place in the competition.
