REMINISCE

This project is about looking back and drawing from enduring my childhood memories, where I explored and experimented with various systems, material processes, gesture, reflexivity and interaction, through playtime.

Initially, I went back to those memories and experiences and re-made the toys or playthings I made as a kid. During this re-making, I drew knowledge, methods and material limitations and possibilities.

While I was remaking the toys I will drew/ distilled and recognized principles, processes, feelings, surprises when playing and the technical, process, discoveries and encounters. These motivated me to be the particular designer I am today. Whatever discovers I come across was being translated into origami and other structures

There is nothing quiet like the joy you get from transforming a plain piece of paper into an animal, flower etc. It always brings a smile on our faces when we finish an origami. We do it to surprise and delight ourselves.

Origami represents playtime, surprise, and excitement. It is also gestural,reflexive and interactive like my childhood toys therefore I wanted to translate my childhood memories through this medium. While folding origami i was simultaneously unfolding my childhood memories.

The products will create a new kind of intimate relationship with the form. When it is taken off, there’s the memory of the product that affects how it is experienced. The wearer not only becomes part of the product but can also experience playfulness with fashion, as the products are free for transformation.
