Concept

Hunger Action Month is about spreading awareness of food insecurity in America. Food Insecurity refers to the lack of consistent access to nutritious food. Households experiencing food insecurity do not qualify for federal nutrition programs leading them to rely on local food banks that do not offer healthy, fresh food needed for proper nutrition.

The concept for this project was to create a cohesive postage stamp design to build awareness for Hunger Action Month and food insecurity in America. The design needed to contain a unifying factor to connect the individual designs of each stamp when placed together.

Process

For this project I decided on using the American Flag as my unifying factor. I choose the flag to signify unity and pride to motivate people to get involved with the cause. I then chose to place empty place settings to relay the message of food insecurity. Each plate includes an action phrase of what Hunger Action Month is about or how people can get involved.
