SAD CLOWN - EDITORIAL CONCEPT

Unpublished editorial concept for the Kyle Rittenhouse trial for a legal journal. Expressing the tragedy of the events in Kenosha through the imagery of a modern Pagliacci.

The article was going to be about some of the political conflicts surrounding the trial. The political factions trying to influence the trial in the court of public opinion. The mockery surrounding the judge's eccentric behavior. The theatrics and performances witnessed in the court. The use of Rittenhouse and his victims as pawns in a larger game. And the fact that throughout all of this, the tragedy of the events that night still overshadow the violence against Jacob Blake that spurred the protests and riots in Wisconsin and remains an open wound in the community.
