Studies (digital painting from reference)

These are some of my newer works, created while looking at a reference photo. I've learned a great deal about how to paint light, anatomy, utilizing different styles and methods, as well as developing my visual library. What I've learned from these studies will then transfer to my illustration work.
Study of a young child, I really liked the lighting in the reference image, and I realized I don't have much experience drawing children
Environmental study from the movie "John Wick", I wanted to practice creating a scene using the shape and lasso tools.
study of ice cream, focusing on hard and soft edges, and emphasis on using the lasso tool
long photoshop painting study of “Milo of Croton” by Etienne Falconet

Initial study on the left of an old skull, and a re-touching of the same study, but imagined if the skull had a fiery inner glow.
study of the statue "Prometheus" by Adam Louvre 1745
Finished study of the “Tenax Vitae” by Rinaldo Carnielo

Nightmare Before Christmas still life study
close up study of Bernini's "David" statue
study of the Predalien monster from the movie "Alien VS Predator: Requiem". I wanted to experiment with style, and blocking in large areas of silhouette with black, then use gradients and simple highlights.
About a 1.5 hour study of one of my friends (with a reference photo)

3-4 hour study of "Jean Baptiste Carpeaux Ugolino and his sons" sculpture
a quick sketch self-portrait, inspired by M C Escher's famous self-portrait drawing.
