The occasion of my son’s birth necessitated a commemoration, and a foray into the world of quilts seemed apropos. Each of these quiltshas been built from a different historical quilt pattern; chosen because of specific familial associations (ie. my farmer grandfather Charles Bonner’s pattern is “corn and beans”), and the seven quilts are portraits of seven consecutive generations of men in my family. The digital files were then each broken up to be printed on 210 4x6 inch photographs, reassembled and installed in Adams Hall Gallery, Wheaton College.
