What’s Going on Here?

This man appeared to be waiting impatiently for his lady friend to catch up, then decided it was hopeless, and dashed on ahead to meet an appointment, perhaps at the restaurant on the corner. At least, that’s my interpretation. This series started out as a test of the resolving power of a lens focused at a great distance. But when I arrived home and saw what I had, I decided that some viewers might enjoy it. All the images are tight crops, that is, tiny portions of the full image.
