United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC)
For two decades, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has been helping make the world safer from drugs, organized crime, corruption and terrorism. We are committed to achieving health, security and justice for all by tackling these threats and promoting peace and sustainable well-being as deterrents to them.
Because the scale of these problems is often too great for states to confront alone, UNODC offers practical assistance and encourages transnational approaches to action. We do this in all regions of the world through our global programmes and network of field offices.
UNODC in Central Asia
UNODC began its presence in Central Asia in 1993 with the establishment of Regional Office for Central Asia (ROCA) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Today, ROCA supports the five countries in Central Asia: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, and three countries in the Southern Caucasus: Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia to reduce abuse and trade of illicit drugs, counter transnational organized crime and corruption, and prevent terrorism.
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Regional Office for Central Asia (UNODC ROCA) presented the Annual Report for 2020 in March 2021.
Inspiration
We were inspired by Cubism - an early-20th-century avant-garde art movement. Cubism was a revolutionary new approach to representing reality invented in around 1907–08.
More specifically by Dutch painter Piet Mondrian who reached a point where his artistic vocabulary was reduced to simple geometric elements.
Cover design
Two styles of Covers were design - Mondrian style and using SDG Goals. The decision was made in a way of promoting 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The Sustainable Development Goals or Global Goals are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a "blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all". The SDGs were set up in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly and are intended to be achieved by the year 2030.
