HOT POT

Cookbook author BAS ROBBEN asked me to design his new book, Hot Pot. The book covers the basics of hot pot cooking, drinks and desserts. It contains recipes from China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam. Between the chapters, we added travel diaries from Bas’ travels through Asia.

To maintain a bit of an Asian vibe without making things stereotypical, I based the color scheme on the bright red color of Japanese shinto shrines, and chose typography with a construction that reminded me of pagodas. To add a lil’ extra, I chose gold foil for the book title
