Vienna secession


The Vienna secession is an art movement that was created by a group of Austrian artists, designers and architects in 1897, housed in the Vienna they established the Union of Austrian Artists. The leading artists of the Secession were Gustav Klimt, Koloman Moser and Egon Schiele. The Vienna secession was formed as a critical reaction to the conservatism of the art institutions in the Austrian capital. The Secession movement art style was well known for its use of decretive embellishments and geometric, ornamental shapes (Takac, 2018).
The Kiss is one of Gustav Klimt’s art work, inspired by San Vitale the piece displays decretive gold leaf embellishments and geometric, ornamental shapes around the male the female (Takac, 2018).     
Danh Vo is a European, artist born in Vietnam his art works combines themes of capitalism, colonialism, and religion together with intimate personal narratives ‘’what he calls the tiny diasporas of a person’s life.’’ This one of his pieces at the Guggenheim Museum the use of geometric shapes in this art piece is inspired by the Vienna secession (Housten, 2018).
