ARRPRILE! is a personal project from April 2021, ideated as a carachter design exercise.

Since I've always been a pirate lover, every week I designed a different pirate crew and their own "ship" based on a daily word and on a limited color palette, inspired by three main settings and moods.

Every character comes with a little props inventory connected to their occupation and background.

Week 1: Sky and sea pirates - primary colors, steampunk setting. 

The choice wants to mark the contrast between the warmer tones of metals like copper, brass and bronze, and cold tones recalling the sky and the sea.

Week 2: earth pirates - desert inspired colors, post-apocalyptic setting. 

There is still some sort of chromatic affinity with the three main colors of the first week, but this time I choose more earthy tones to adapt to the setting.

Week 3: space pirates - a combination of complementary colors in a futuristical setting.

For the last crew I moved to a different color scheme, choosing the complementary shades of yellow and purple, inspiring a more cyberpunk look.
