ILLUMINOLOGY - [ June 2013 – October 2013 ]; BA Diploma Project; Women’s costumes; The main idea is based on the aesthetic transformation of perception via light illusions: the light, its absence – the darkness- and the black (ultraviolet) light build three variations of one object, as well as the project follows three stages of realization. Multiple levels are also developed into the general concept – v.1 ILLUMINOLOGY as design meets the terms of science; v.2 ILLUMINOLOGY in the terms of black & white in general resembles some philosophical concepts; v.3 ILLUMINOLOGY is also a lifestyle – the costume styles are a representation of multiple subcultures’ visual characteristics; v.4 ILLUMINOLOGY as fiction – 12 costume designs are presented in the portfolio: 12 names symbolizing 12 concepts about 12 fictional persons/ 12 character features. It could be a human and its 12 alternatives, or 12 phases of a story, a tale for 12 living beings in a world, or even 12 parallel worlds in the Universe of one’s mind;
- Stage 1: ILLUMINOLOGY – [ 17 June 2013 ]; gallery ACADEMIA, Sofia, Bulgaria; Portfolio and Performance; This first stage of the project includes creating the costumes, accessories and choosing the music for the show; all three concepts about design, science and philosophy are developed here; Three additional videos are included – one inspirational, one presenting the portfolio and one from the show;
- Stage 2: CYBER ILLUMINOLOGY – [ 7 September 2013 ]; part of the festival ANIVENTURE ; Paradise Event Centre, Sofia, Bulgaria; This second stage of the project includes costumes (Yana Kaprieva, Teodora Shumanova), stage performance (Ciril Stoev, Svetoslav Yankov, George Draganov, Valeria Koleva, Vanessa Yosifova, Nadya Terziyska, Danny Takeva, Mila Spasova, Yoana Antonova); choreography (Ciril Stoev); sound design (Sibin Zlatarev); Conceptually it is a representation of a specific subcultures’ aesthetics and lifestyle; One additional video from the show is included;
- Stage 3: BEYOND ILLUMINOLOGY – [ 26 October 2013 ; ]club Mixtape 5, Sofia, Bulgaria; The project on it includes an experiment where the costumes are developed to the concept for setting; They literally connect all of the performers in one whole; Alongside with the background music there will be text read as a monologue, building the highest conceptual level by/ while becoming fiction; costumes (Yana Kaprieva); choreography (Ciril Stoev); monologue (Ciril Stoev); text (LIGTHS AND SHADOWS by George Petkov, ION AND ANNA lyrics by New Generation/ Nova Generatsia, an essay by Yana Kaprieva and THE DREAM as written by Melvin Sparkman, Marcus Allen, Shaffer Smith); sound design (Sibin Zlatarev);
