Phil Pulaski also was a highly decorated member of the NYPD and during his career, received more than 25 medals. Because of the bravery he displayed in August 1981, as a rookie police officer in the 77th Precinct in Bedford Stuyvesant Brooklyn, Phil Pulaski was inducted into the NYPD’s Honor Legion.
The Honor Legion was founded in 1900 and is the oldest fraternal organization in the New York City Police Department.

The Honor Legion is composed of members of the NYPD, comprising all ranks (from police officer to chief) who have been awarded medals for deeds of valor performed at imminent risk of life or who have been commended for meritorious acts at grave personal risk. The official motto of the NYPD Honor Legion is “Fidelis Ad Mortem”, “Faithful Unto Death”. The Honor Legion’s tenets are self-respect, courage, loyalty and devotion to duty. There is a saying in the Honor Legion that a NYC Police Officer is someone, who when they were sworn into the NYPD, wrote a blank check payable to the citizens of New York City for an amount up to & including their life.

The executive board of the NYPD Honor Legion works tirelessly to support and enhance the Honor Legion's mission by working with membership & supporters alike to ensure the Honor Legion concentrates its efforts in family member support, hosting regular honoree meetings, and special events, including the Annual Scholarship Dinner Dance. The Honor Legion fosters comradeship and brotherhood recognizing no ethnicity or religious differences. Currently, Captain Anthony Longobardi is the President of NYPD Honor Legion and head of the Honor Legions Executive Board
