Singapore's National Butterfly- Design Brief

First Conversation Conservation

The concept and the video for this project both, were created as a final year BA project where I was looking to bring design and conservation together. A need was felt to involve designers from the very first step of planning a wildlife campaign together with the concerned wildlife expert of the project. Several wildlife campaigns revolve only around megafauna their national/ international role in ecosystems is forgotten.

In Singapore, the local wildlife is extremely unpopular as people are unaware of the natural treasure that exists in the island city. The national butterfly campaign of Singapore would help to bridge this gap with an intent of giving out a calculated message. Butterfly scientist Dr. Anuj Jain of National University of Singapore, colleagues at Lasalle College of the Arts, and an artist participated. I was the mediator of this conversation.

Together ideas were brainstormed to create an effective campaign for Singapore's National Butterfly. More details about the brief at: www.verserv.org
