Animation for the Cloud of Creativity

Creative cloud
A lot of people may come across with an issue as lack of some good ideas. However, sometimes that is enough to add a little portion of creativity to turn doubtful concepts into incredible ideas. And while working in Adobe After Effects, I decided to show how creative cloud can change crumpled thoughts to let them shine. Here is the process of creating the animation.
Storyboard
That was an interesting experience of trying to sketch not only the objects but also the scene and the way how these objects will move. I was trying to show some main stages of the animation. Also, I was using the arrows to show the potential movements of the shapes that will move later. I made some crumpled balls to understand the way of their motion.
Assets
First of all, I created all the necessary objects on separate layers in Adobe Illustrator. Every ball had its layer, so it could be moved independently. Even the lines that would give it a kind of shining effect were placed on the different layers, so every line could be adjusted separately.
Animation drafts
The motion of the balls looks pretty robotic because there is no reaction when they hit each other. However, the concept is almost ready, but that is still unclear what is the purpose of hitting this pile.
Here I added some of the interaction between the balls, but it still looks a bit weird. Also, I showed what creative cloud could do with the pile of doubtful.
Final animation
Due to some recommendations from my peers, I decided to add some rotation to one of the balls to make it look more interesting. Also, from the feedback, I understood that it was weird that wings were not moving while the cloud was walking. So I added some slight rotation to the wings. And to make the motion of the cloud even more realistic, it got a wiggle effect while flying. The final detail was to make the shining more engaging. I worked with the glow effect. The pile started actually to shine. The whole animation was 15 seconds, so I used the LoopOut expression to repeat everything.

That was interesting to see how just a flat image created in Adobe Illustrator could become alive due to the magic of Adobe After Effects.
