MASTER PIECES FOR AUTISM SPEAKS
LITTLE ROCK | NASHVILLE | CHARLESTON
web | print | photography | live auction

A responsive Wordpress website, with live auction, and print event materials.

This was a project for a joint event between Autism Speaks and Autism Tennessee.
Because these two organizations are different and neither wanted it branded in eithers corporate colors, I was given the job of coming up with a neutral brand that allowed the auction pieces to stand out.

This project incorporated a wordpress powered website that hosted and, whose main focus, was the online auction. On each puzzle piece page there is a photographic mosaic-tilled image gallery of the auction pieces, and from there there is a direct link to the eBay-style auction pages.

This site is responsive and can be scaled from an iPhone 3G to an iPad to a desktop.

Also included were print materials used at the auction to incorporate the brand at the event.

~ SELECT YOUR CITY ~
~Dedicated and Personalized~

Each city has their own dedicated Wordpress site. Being seperate from each other allows each city to personalize their own unique and individualized content; from custom twitter feeds, to the homepage gallery where they show of their Master Pieces.

~The Grid~

The kind of content that was being displayed was great. Each Master Piece was designed and painted by a different artist, and this led to a lot of great looking images; add a little blur with depth-of-field photos and it was the perfect content for a grid-styled gallery homepage.

~The Display Case~

This is where the indiviuality of each city really shines through. For Nashville, the images were taken in an art studio with professional lights camera. With all the available shots, they were able to create a post page where they could show off their photographs using a mosaic-tiled gallery. When an image is clicked (or tapped) a lightbox appears and displays a larger resolution picture of the image.

Lightbox also darkens the background so that the viewer can filter out the noise from behind the image and really focus on the details of it.
~Place A Bid~

Now we come down to business; where the magic happens!

Autism Speaks is a charity (if you didn't already know... and if this is case, what rock have you been under). So all of the proceeds that they recieve goes to their cause. The good thing about this system is that they got to keep every, single, penny!

The auction pages are easy to navigate and pretty self explanitory, espcially if you have ever used eBay. However, the nice thing for Autism Speaks is that there were no eBay seller fees. This enabled them to not have to pay a percentage to eBay. More money for the cause, and who doesn't like that!

REGISTRATION
The audience for these events are from various backgrounds; young and old, tech-savy and the not so. So, one of the key features is to make the registering process (so a person may place a bid) as easy as possible. The easiest option was enabling users to use their social media accounts to auto-register from the registration page. And for those who don't have or don't want to use social media there was an easy email and password registration form.

SHARING
Many charities rely on the word of mouth, and so, to help spread the word people need and want to share, I made it easier than ever for them to connect to the most popular social networks and bring in the masses (and their money).

RESPONSIVE
The entire site, and each dedicated city site, is completely responsive and adapts to any device screen. Because these auctions are all online, and the event isn't, people will be walking around the venue with their heads buried in their phones bidding frantically on my 7 year-old niece's Master Piece. (Disclaimer... My niece did not paint a Master Piece, and furthermore, I do not have a niece. She is completely fictisious.)  It is important that the sites work on a multitude of platforms.
