Coping with COVID-19

The NYS Office of Mental Health created a number of resources to help New Yorkers cope with mental health challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic.

When the pandemic hit, many people became starved for emotional support. We launched a series of infographics, social media graphics, videos and downloadable web content that helped people understand their own mental wellness, improve their coping skills and connect them to the agency-run Emotional Support Helpline that launched as a result of the pandemic's mental health impact on New Yorkers.

Our social media graphics highlighted individual coping tips, suggestions for wellness activities and tidbits of information that helped people explore how to maintain their mental health. We also promoted an agency initiative called Coping Circles- creating a brand for the program and creating social media teaser graphics for its announcement and rollout.

OGS Media Services helped us to create several promotional videos for the Emotional Support Helpline while our internal creative team drafted colorable greeting cards that could be printed from our website.

An overwhelming number of New Yorkers were hungry for this information. Our social media channel following skyrocketed and the promotion of the Emotional Support Helpline as well as the Coping Circles program was highly successful.
