Paying homage to Mapantsula (Documentary)

Paying homage to Mapantsula is a documentary that I shot, directed and edited. The aim of the documentary is to celebrate and to better understand Mapantsula. Mapantsula is a subcultural group from South Africa. The documentary includes a series of face to face interviews that were done in Evaton, the oldest township in South Africa,

Sebokeng and the University ofJohannesburg.

I interviewed a Jazz dance group (Avant Garde Jazz dancers), Bra Sach he has a lot of knowledge about the history

of South African and its various cultures. I also talked to a modern day Pantsula group called City Boys Mapantula,

to learn about the culture in the present. I asked people what they thought about Mapantsula and their origins.
