To address the need for consistency in Prodigy Finance's UI and to create a framework within which our design team could work, I conceptualised and created a design system. The system has external and internal users. Our external customers benefit from the consistency it creates in our UI which results in a better user experience. Internally it functions to enable engineering to do more and work faster with less design dependency.

I came up with 2 options for the name, Isotope (definition: an atomic variation) and Quanta (definition: units of light energy) and in the spirit of collaboration and inclusion (2 of the principles of the system) I asked the company to vote on it. Isotope came out the winner! It is a work in progress (as any design system is).
