Instagram highlights for an authentic hair salon
For an amazingly talented hairdresser, Hester Wernert, I've made little icons for Instagram highlights. This is for the item 'Styling'. I've incorporated Japanese elements and gave them a vintage vibe. I chose colours from an outfit that she was wearing and the stylized pattern reminds me of the industrial elements in the hair salon Mogeen in Amsterdam.

Steps
1. First sketch, with mechanical pencils.
2. More detailed added with smudger, variety of pencils. I love 2B.
3. Adding vintage paper digitally and I've made it less saturated.
4. Added highlights and colours.
