Sistema Single es un proyecto experimental con un perfil teórico que investiga la posibilidad de alejarse de los prejuicios visuales y las representaciones figurativas entorno al universo gráfico de la música.

 

En base a la cita de Joseph Müller Brockmann, "La música es invisible y por lo tanto hay que buscar su representación de la abstracción", se propone crear un sistema gráfico de clasificación de la música basado en sus características, mediante un lenguaje abstracto y geométrico. Este sistema está compuesto por 56 características agrupadas en 6 parámetros, dando la posibilidad de mas de 3.500.000 combinaciones entre sí. El método de uso consiste en combinar las características de una canción representadas gráficamente (color, textura y forma) formando una imagen que refleja la esencia de esa música.

 

Para promover este sistema y poner en práctica esta investigación gráfica y teórica nace Single®, una marca dedicada a la comercialización de canciones sueltas en formato físico a un precio muy asequible, recuperando así el fetichismo del coleccionismo de la música. El packaging refleja la filosofía de Single® gracias al bajo coste de su producción y a la utilización del sistema como portada, permitiendo así su fácil identificación y su posterior clasificación.

Single System is an experimental project with a speculative profile that investigates the possibility of moving away from the visual prejudices and figurative representations in the Graphics universe of music.  

  
Taking the quote by Joseph Müller Brockmann as its starting point, “Music is invisible and we therefore have to seek its representation out of abstraction”, I propose to create a Graphics system for classifying music base don its characteristics using an abstract and geometric language. The system comprises 56 characteristics grouped into 6 parameters, offering a range of  Over 3.500.000 combinations. The method regarding its use consists of combining the graphically represented characteristics of a song (color, texture and shape) to forma an image that reflects the essence of the music.    

Single®, a brand devoted to the commercialization of individual songs in a physical format at a very reasonable price, was created to promote this system and put into practice this Graphics and theoretical investigation, thereby reviving the fetishism of music collecting. The packaging reflects the philosophy of Single®, thanks to its low production costs and the use of the system as a cover, making it easy to identify and subsequently classify.
