MASTER'S DEGREE DIPLOMA// MUSIC CENTER - PHILHARMONY

The aim of this project is to create a building which, as an architectural object will be able to reflect the idea of music. An attempt was made to translate what we hear in what we see. The final effect is the building of Philharmonic Orchestra, which has an impact on the two senses, sight and hearing.

Located on the banks of the Vistula, in the eastern part of Cracow, aims to identify new directions for development of the area. Proposed urban development idea provides for the creation of the Music Center, where the most important point would be Philharmonic.

The building is divided into two parts. The first one is a space designed for concert halls and  has been highlighted by specially designed roof and elevation. The second part is the space in which they are contained accompanying features, hidden in a minimalist form. Philharmonic has two concert halls, the Main and the Chamber. Additionally, it has also a multi-purpose space on the first floor, which can also be a part of the foyer.

The architectural form of the building is linked to the function. Concert space was highlighted by the crooked construction of covering and elevation, thickening gradually from the roof to terrace level. Form of accompanying parts is simple, cubist with uniform color. The only distinction is present in the use of materials, different for each floor. The  Philharmonic building is complemented whit glazing, with underlined horizontal division.
