The footwear line "As Mouras" intends to pass the essence and cultural values of Galicia.
The Galician territory is characterized by a wide variety of cultural and material diversity, and among all we highlight the forts, the petroglyphs, the costumes, the azabache (semi-precious mineral used in jewelery) and the Galicians clogs. This one, being a type of footwear with its own characteristics, decisively influenced the design project - concept and design - of our footwear.
The Galician clogs, or "Madreñas", differentiate themselves from the Portuguese clogs by it's caracteristic heel, based on three points of support, and it was precisely this heel we aroused most interest. So, the "As Mouras" heel supported at 3 points becomes the ex-libris of our entire line.

"As Mouras" is a young and dynamic footwear that leads us to our origins and is characterized by its wooden sole resting on three supports, the leather trim completely made by hand recovering nearly extinct techniques, and elements alluding to Galician culture, particularly , the petroglyphs and Celtic gemstone "azabache".
The name "Mouras" arises through the short story "The Legend of the Sword of the Moor", in which is depicted the forbidden passion between a galician maiden and a Moor in Tomiño region, more precisely in Goian by the river Minho. According to legend, after the prison of the lady by her parents so that she does not meet with the Moor, having the opportunity, she arranged a way to slip and gave a tragic end to his story by killing herself in the Minho river, leaving behind only her shoes along the shore. When the Moor heard what had happened to his beloved, he went to the place where the maiden threw herself to the river, and, with his sword, put an end to his life as well.
