“From wings to halteres”

During fly evolution, the second pair of wings of ancestral insects were transformed into smaller structures called halteres, which help to control balance during flight. Through a composition of microscopy images of developing appendages, we shown mutations in halteres that can revert that transformation and create a wing again (1 to 8)
