SOLAPUR CHADDAR
Craft documentation of Solapur Chaddar, a magical piece of textile.
At one point of time in history solapur was known as The Mill Town.
Solapur Chaddar is one of the textile products that Solapur is very well known for and fortunatewe got to opportunity to do our Craft cluster documentation on it.
Having a practical view point is as important as having the technical knowledge about a certain craft.
In this project we have not only documented the technical knowledge that we gained about solarpur chaddar but also tried to understand the other aspect of the craftsmen's life such as their living conditions, surroundings and more that effect their work directly or indirectly.
Due to the pandemic we were in a situation where we could not visit the craft cluster physically. we had to communicate through video and voice calls and all of them were very cooperative and helpful.
we also added a small comic to explain the whole making process of Solapur Chaddar.
