September, 2020  Zakynthos, Greece

When I was riding on a bus from the nearby airport to the centre of Laganas (Zakynthos).  I couldn’t be less bothered hence I’ve been to greek islands many times before.

The sun setting, sky blue, fluttering leaves. The landscape seemed so peaceful and quiet. Only when we’ve driven through the usually loud and vibrant town of Laganas, I got unexpectedly anxious. I couldn’t recognise this place and only a few of once cheerful waiters were standing still at the gates of their restaurants, resembling rather guards or witnesses, abandoned there by other fugitives for the futures’ testimony. Days went by and it seemed to me like humans were gradually fading away, leaving their homes and businesses behind. Suddenly I didn’t need to wander around the town after dark to recognise symmetry and geometry within the chaos.

And here I was alone, wondering if this off-season is only temporary or will it spread like   a disease.
